Back to School
| Date Published: 10/29/2008 | On Monday, August 18, all 68 Providence Hall students returned to school after the summer vacation. Students gathered in the church’s old fellowship hall, grouped by class. Mrs. Wilson greeted the students and gave them some instructions, then students lined up in the hall and proceeded into the sanctuary where, after a few announcements and a short preview of our new chapel liturgy, Mrs. Wilson led the students and parents in prayer. Then the traditional end-of chapel question was asked: “Students, what is the chief end of man?” Students answered with a resounding, “Man’s chief end is to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever!” after which they were dismissed to do that very thing!
Parents and students will notice several changes in the way we do things at PH this year. We’ve streamlined our schedule by combining our weekly morning assembly with chapel, which is now on Mondays. The new liturgy is outlined in a worship guide prepared weekly and distributed to students and parents prior to chapel. Each morning students will gather in the fellowship hall first thing instead of going to classrooms first, eliminating a special trip there for morning memory time. This year for the first time all students from pre-k through 5th grade gather for lunch at the same time; Mrs. Wilson leads the students in a corporate expression of thanksgiving, after which ladies, then gentlemen are seated. The school day has also been extended by 15 minutes to give us a bit more flex-time, and for the first time we are offering PE classes!
The most important changes, however, are our new teachers. Providence Hall has been greatly blessed with five new teachers this year, each one very talented and well-suited to PH. Mrs. Roe MacDurmon-Pre-K, Mrs. Darlene Carroll-1st grade, Mrs. Darci Mays-2nd grade, Mrs. Tara Dunn-5th grade, and Miss Amanda Hoover-Music and PE are the newest additions to the PH family. We will be introducing one new teacher each month in Remarkable Providences.
We are so very blessed by our Sovereign Lord with excellent, dedicated teachers and parents. May God continue to bless Providence Hall as we seek to glorify Him and enjoy Him forever in what we do and say here!
