Academic Overview

Every educational goal, by its very nature, is also a spiritual goal. You cannot separate the two. Underlying any educational goal from any type of educational system is a set of presuppositions about the world from which an institution’s (or family’s) goals and values are derived. That is why our mission at Providence Hall is spiritual. Ultimately we desire to prepare young men and women to glorify God and enjoy Him forever.

What does that look like? According to our Mission Statement, our charge is to prepare students to live with purpose and intelligence as servants of the Lord Jesus Christ for the benefit of man and the glory of God. We recognize that all authority on heaven and on earth has been given to Jesus, that He is seated at the right hand of God the Father and been given a name above every other name. We desire to honor that authority and prepare our students to live lives of service to our King. We also recognize that the only way we can prepare students to become His servants is to help them understand how He became a servant to us. Mark tells us in his Gospel that Christ came not to be served but to serve and give His life as a ransom for many. This amazing grace is the fountainhead of our desire to prepare students to live as servants of the Lord Jesus Christ for the benefit of man and the glory of God.

How do we do that? That’s a pretty big task. We seek to train students to live as Christ’s servants by giving them a view of life and the world as seen and understood through the eyes of God’s Word. It’s a straightforward goal, but so very important. As we look around in our society we can see what has happened when a Scriptural foundation has been pulled out from under our young men and women. There is no longer any sound basis for judging what is right and wrong, what is good from what is evil. Our country's moral decline is the fruit our culture has spent a generation preparing. There is a way that seems right to a man but in the end leads to death. When you abandon the foundation for truth you no longer have a basis for sound judgment. The writer of Proverbs states, the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge. Without it, trying to discover the meaning to life and understand the world is like trying to sail a ship without a rudder. At Providence Hall our goal is to help provide this foundation for students by giving them a Biblical world and life view.

Providing our students with a vision to live as servants of the Lord Jesus Christ and a Biblical world and life view is practically implemented within our curriculum, which also seeks to capitalize on the Western liberal arts tradition. Providence Hall’s students are saturated with Christian wisdom and training in classical eloquence, uniquely equipping them for leadership in the modern world so that their service will benefit man and glorify God.
