Mr. Nathan Carr, Head of School

 

Nathan’s introduction to and subsequent love of great books occurred in the Western Civ classroom at Oklahoma Baptist University.  After graduation from the University of Central Oklahoma, Nathan enrolled at Reformed Theological Seminary, and is currently writing his thesis in preparation for graduation.  Nathan has been at Providence Hall since August of 2006, teaching their secondary school math and science and functioning in the role of Upper School Development Director.  He continues to teach various math, science and logic courses in the school.  He is married to Sarah, and together they have three children—two of which attend Providence Hall.  Nathan is also a Postulant standing for Holy Orders in the Diocese of Oklahoma; he and his family attend All Souls' Episcopal Church.

 

 

 

 

Mrs. Sheri Boughman, Office Manager

 

Mrs. Boughman graduated from Kent State University with a B.S. in Education; her Comprehensive Social Studies degree included a major in History with minors in Geography, Economics and Political Science.  She has taught History at both middle school and high school levels.  Mrs. Boughman has been married for 42 years to retired Air Force officer, Jim Boughman; they have two adult sons and 7 grandchildren.  They are Edmond residents and are members of First Presbyterian Church of Oklahoma City.

 

 

Mrs. Lynne Doe, Development Director

 

Lynne Doe graduated with from Baylor University with a major in Elementary Education. She taught in various school settings and grades in Texas until she and her husband, Douglas, moved to Oklahoma in 1999. Mrs. Doe has extensive experience in recruitment and marketing through her volunteer work with Alpha Delta Pi, where she currently serves as an International Officer. She has won numerous awards including Zeta Chi Alumna of the Year as well as Panhellenic Woman of the Year from the Greater Oklahoma City Alumnae Panhellenic Foundation. Through her work in Alpha Delta Pi, she has also authored and co-authored magazine articles and manuals on recruitment and marketing, and is called upon throughout the year to facilitate workshops at a variety of college campuses. Mrs. Doe also volunteers with the Ronald McDonald House in OKC and the choir at Crossings Community Church. Mr. & Mrs. Doe have two children at Providence Hall and have been at the school since 2006.

 

 

Mrs. Kaye Wilson, Curriculum Coordinator and Classical Consultant

 

Mrs. Wilson graduated summa cum laude with a B. Mus., Piano Performance from Oklahoma City University in 1980. She studied the Suzuki method of instruction at Emporia State University, and taught private piano lessons for ten years.  She taught high school French and elementary Spanish at Covenant Life School in OKC. She is married to Jeff Wilson. The Wilsons have five children, whom they homeschooled for ten years; the oldest married in 2007. Two are in college—one at Oklahoma Baptist University, the other at University of Oklahoma; and the youngest is in the upper school at Westminster Academy. The Wilsons reside in Bethany and are members of All Souls' Episcopal Church.

 

 

 

Mrs. Kimberly Reynolds, Pre-K/K Assistant and Physical Education

 

Mrs. Reynolds was born and raised in New Market, Maryland.  She came to Oklahoma to attend Oklahoma Baptist University where she received her Bachelor’s in English, with minors in Religion and Business. She was a member of Sigma Tau Delta, the English honorary at OBU.   While studying at OBU, she also met her husband Dan, a native of Oklahoma City.  A member of the 2010 Indoor Track National Championship team, Mrs. Reynolds also earned honors such as conference champion, national meet qualifier, and school record holder in the Hammer Throw.  She loves working with students and first became interested in Classical Education when her sister started teaching at a Classical school 5 years ago.  Mrs. Reynolds has enjoyed subbing at Providence Hall during the 2010- 2011 school year and is very excited to become a part of the Providence Hall community.

 

 

Mrs. Charity Chan, Pre-Kindergarten

 

Mrs. Chan is thrilled to be serving as a teacher at Providence Hall.  She has lived over a decade overseas serving in the capacity of a missionary, vocational missionary, and as a teacher.  Her experiences have been unique, varied, challenging, and leading her to take “Courage” in her gracious Savior and to embrace the “Freedom” that only Christ can bring.

 

 

Ms. Anne Risch, Kindergarten

 

Anne Risch spent two summers teaching English for the Defense University of Mongolia in Ulaan Baatar, Mongolia before graduating from Oklahoma Baptist University in May 2010.  She now looks forward to teaching younger students.  She loves reading near open windows while drinking large amounts of coffee and writing in the margins.  She also hopes, one day, to stumble into Narnia.

 

 

 

 

Ms. Gwyneth Churchill, First Grade

 

Gwyneth was born and raised in Oklahoma City and attended college at Biola University in Los Angeles, where she majored in Communication Disorders and minored in Bible.  Upon graduation, Gwyneth began working immediately in the Paramount Unified School District as a Speech and Language Therapist.  She provided therapy to High School and Middle School aged students and worked closely with their teachers.  She also was a substitute teacher for the Elementary Grades and Special Education, and spent a year in ministry in Chandler, Oklahoma as the primary caregiver to a group of abandoned boys.  Gwyneth spent 7 years in Denver, Colorado raising and home schooling her four children, and moved back to Oklahoma in August of 2008.  She enjoys traveling, road biking, snow boarding, reading and being with family and friends.  She has experienced the blessings and love of God in astounding ways, and has come to place where she puts all of her trust in Him alone.  She feels privileged to be a part of the Providence Hall staff.

 

 

Mrs. Darci Mays, Second Grade

 

Darci graduated from University of Oklahoma with a BA in Interior Architecture. She has a teaching certification in Art and is working on her elementary certification. She homeschooled for three years and has taught art and nature study at a Christian school in Texas before coming to PH.   She is married to a teacher and coach and has a blended family of six children:  one son who just graduated from college, one married daughter in graduate school, two middle schoolers, and two sixth graders at Providence Hall . 

 

Rev. Sam Broughton, Third Grade

 

 

Rev. Samuel Broughton has been a pastor and teacher for youth and adults for 30 years in churches across Oklahoma and Texas.  So while he is new to Providence Hall, he and his wife have lived in Oklahoma City since 1995.  Rev. Broughton has a Bachelor of Arts degree with a Major in Behavioral Science and Minor in History from Howard Payne University in Brownwood, TX.  He also has a Master of Divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, TX.  He and his wife, Jenny, have been married for 37 years and they have three daughters (all married) and four grandchildren. 

 

Mrs. Jeanette Johnson, Fourth Grade

 

Jeanette Johnson grew up in both Illinois and Texas.  She graduated from Texas Christian University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education. She recently got married and moved to Oklahoma City.  Mrs. Johnson has a background in Classical Education.   Before moving to Oklahoma City, she taught at St. Peter’s Classical School in Fort Worth, Texas for five years.  She also served as their Lower School Head for the last two years.  Mrs. Johnson is loves to read, spend time with friends and family and is an avid Chicago Bears fan.  She is very excited about the opportunity to teach at Providence Hall and very much believes in the classical method of education.

 

 

 

 

Mrs. Kaye Wilson, Fifth Grade

Mr. John Granger, Sixth Grade

 

John Granger is a graduate of Phillips Exeter Academy and the University of Chicago, from which he received a Bachelors of Arts degree cum laude in Classical Languages and Literature. He served six years in the United States Marine Corps with four of those years being overseas (Okinawa, Japan). John has been married twenty-five years to his wife Mary. They have seven home-schooled children ages 11 to 23, one of whom graduated with honors from VMI with another studying Classics at the University of Chicago and a third preparing to enter a convent. The Grangers are Orthodox Christians and John has served as a Reader in this church since his ordination in 1996. John is
the author and editor of seven books of literary criticism with a focus on the English tradition of imaginative literature and its Christian artistry and meaning. Known as the "Hogwarts Professor" because of his insights about Harry Potter, John has been the Keynote or Featured Speaker at twelve fan and academic conferences and lectured at Yale, Princeton, Penn, the University of Chicago, Biola, Baylor, Pepperdine and many other schools. He has taught Latin and English at four schools and to home schooling groups since 1983.

 

 

 

 

Mrs. Rhea Bright: Chair of Humanities, Seventh Grade

 

 

Mrs. Bright's university education began with the Foundation Year Program at the University of King's College in Halifax, Nova Scotia, which is an intensive study of western civilization through primary literature, art and music. She then went on to major in Classics, studying both Latin and Greek as well as ancient and medieval literature, history, philosophy and theology.  She graduated with a B.A. Honours in Classics from King's and an M.A. in Classics from Dalhousie University, Halifax, writing her thesis on the figure of Virgil in Dante's Divine Comedy.  She also has a B.Ed. from Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia.  She moved to Oklahoma City in 1995 with her husband, the Rev'd Patrick Bright, who is Rector of All Souls' Episcopal Church in Oklahoma City, and their five sons.  In addition to raising children, she taught Humanities part-time for eight years at the University of Central Oklahoma, and began teaching Latin at Providence Hall in 2009.

 

 

Mrs. Christy Kiespert, Art

 

Christy Kiespert grew up in the Bethany area and is a graduate of the home educated class of 2001.  She recently completed piano degrees from Southern Nazarene University and the University of Oklahoma, including a Masters of Music Education in Piano Pedagogy.  She currently teaches private piano lessons in her Bethany home.  She and her husband, Brian, also enjoy making music together during worship at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church.  She is also an artist; she especially enjoys painting murals, drawing landscapes, and visiting art museums around the world.  In her free time, Christy enjoys reading British literature, hiking and bicycling with her husband, and spending time with family.  She is looking forward to teaching students at Providence Hall to see, appreciate, and recreate the beauty in God’s world this school year.

 

 

 

Mrs. Robin Krejci, Secondary Math

 

Robin Krejci graduated from Central State University (currently UCO) with a degree in secondary math education.  After graduation, she worked in television production for two ministries, including Feed the Children where she had the opportunity to travel to Central America for on-location production and ministry.  She and her husband Rick have two grown sons whom they homeschooled for fourteen years.  During this time, Robin taught high school math and coached academic teams for their homeschool co-op.  Rick and Robin own a printing and graphics business, and she also currently tutors public, private, and home-schooled students in all levels of math.  The Krejcis live in Edmond and attend Christ Church, where they currently lead a weekly cell group.

 

 

Mr. Aaron Taylor:  Latin, Eighth Grade

 

Mr. Taylor is a graduate of Oklahoma City University, where he majored in Religion and minored in Russian language and literature, receiving the Robert L. Jones Senior Paper Award in 1999. He has done intensive language study at Moscow State University’s Ulyanovsk branch, as well as Aristotle University of Thessalonica in Greece. Mr. Taylor spent two years in Thessalonica, where he began work at AUTh. towards his Master’s in Moral Theology and taught English to Greek children. He hopes to complete his thesis on the subject of the reading of imaginative literature in the Christian life. Mr Taylor’s wife, Allison, is a violin teacher, and his children, Elisabeth and Nicholas, are students at Providence Hall. The Taylors attend St Benedict Orthodox Church.

 

 

Mrs. Allison Taylor, Music

 

Mrs. Taylor received her BA and MA in violin performance from the University of Central Oklahoma, later completing her Oklahoma teacher's certification in music education. She has taught at King’s Gate Christian School and Sequoyah Elementary in Oklahoma City, and continues to give lessons to a number of private music students. Mrs. Taylor performs with the Enid Symphony and with various trio and quartet ensembles, and regularly plays traditional Celtic music as part of the group As the Crow Flies. Her husband, Aaron Taylor, also teaches at PH, and her two children, Elisabeth and Nicholas are students at PH. The Taylors attend St Benedict Orthodox Church, where Mrs. Taylor is the assistant choir director.
